Discovering My Passion

I started life in the creative lane studying Design and Art Direction at Manchester Metropolitan University. The course was predominantly based around graphic design coupled with advertising. I found there that the media, in which I was able to express myself through my work strongest, was through the form of photography. My most memorable project whilst at university was a series of images I compiled, each one a parody of one of Madonna’s famous looks over her long stretched, continually reinventing career.

Madonna's alter ego "Dita", from her Erotica era.

Whilst doing research for the project I discovered many amazing fashion photographers such as Steven Klein, Herb Ritts, Guy Bourdin and David La Chapelle to name a few, and these guys have continued to inspire me until this very day. It was whilst doing this project, with the help of some very patient models and an amazing make up/hair artist aka Becky, that I fell in love with studio photography. I have now been living in London for the best part of three years and there is never a dull opportunity not to take a photo. The city is so diverse and packed with culture. From Old Street to Notting Hill, Piccadilly Circus to Camden, each tube station you rise from is never the same as the other, as each town is individual and has it own character, its own style and feeling. There are always new exhibitions and shows on, and the place just oozes with inspiration. There is absolutely no reason to be bored in this city. I am nightlife and alternative fashion photographer based mainly in London and occasionally Manchester, also available for weddings, portrait and events. I am currently shooting with a Canon EOS 400D with my favourite lens at the moment, which is a 24 -70mm Sigma that gives crisp sharp images with amazing colours. I am also a huge fan of lomography and own a Holga 120 medium format camera that has produced some breathtaking photos.
